Second GENESI Workshop 
On the 12 June 2012, the second GENESI workshop took place in Catania, Italy. The objective of this workshop was to present research and technical achievements of the project and to exchange ideas with other researchers. A number of demos were also presented.

Joint workshop of IOP Gencom projects 
On 23 May 2012, PS organized and hosted the first joint workshop of the three projects, i.e., Go-Green, RRR, and MEANS, funded by the IOP Gencom. After a short introduction of each project, important achievements of each project till now were presented. The meeting was continued by fruitful discussions on collaboration possibilities, common test beds, and shared data sets.

Keynote presentation at Saxion 
On 22 May 2012, Paul Havinga gave a keynote presentation at Saxion in Enschede during a symposium related to safety aspects for first responders. He presented our research on Smart Cities, and in particular on the Reconsurve and the Sensafety projects. He addressed the most prominent challenges of current wireless sensor network research, and directions of future work.

Visiting Lemnis Public Lighting 
on May 11 Pervasive Systems made a visit to the research and development labs Lemnis Public Lighting in Almere. Lemnis is a partner in the SenSafety project, in which it will take care of adaptive lighting. As such, Lemnis is performing research on the effects of light (color, intensity) on visibility for both humans and cameras.

SeaSTAR meets with its user committee for the second time 
On 09 May 2012, SeaSTAR project on underwater monitoring platform met with its end users committee members and the STW representatives to discuss project progress and exploitation plans. The discussions with end user committee members from TNO (The Netherlands), SINTEF (Norway) and IMEC Holst Center (The Netherlands) was very fruitful.
